Marçal Abella Bresco began his career in the early 1980s illustrating Disney comics for the Danish publisher Egmont through the Recreo studios. He started outwith several long 'Uncle Scrooge' stories in cooperation with his fellow studio artists (Albert Garcia, Maximino Tortajada, Miquel Pujol, etc.) for Anders And & Co. magazine.

Although his main activity remained 'Duck' stories for Denmark, he additionally did Duck and Mouse stories for Mondadori in Italy and Hachette in France. In recent years, he has been working for the magazine La Mañanala, doing comic and cartoon series like 'The Pope' and 'Els Farrús'.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
