Comic art by Salem al Adel

Salem al Adel (Arabic: سالم العدل) is one of the few Libyan comic artists. He began his career in the 1980s, illustrating stories  for the supplement of the Libyan magazine Al Amal ("The Hope"). Among his series were 'Amru the Brave' and 'Kawkab al Nur' ('Star of Light'), that showed influences from Japanese animated TV series.

In the 1990S he worked for Farh ("Joy") magazine, and during this period he developed his own unique art style. By this time he was also working as an illustrator for children's books. From 2000, Al Adel has worked for several magazines, including Farh, Hab al Riman ("Pomegranate Seed") and Warqat Dhakiya (ورقات ذكية in Arabic). He has also worked for the Libyan radio.
