Silas Corey

Pierre Alary is a French comic book artist, who also works under the pen name Stanley. He studied animation at the École des Gobelins in Paris from 1991. Following his graduation, he worked at the Disney animation studios in Montreuil for ten years, first as an assistant animator, then as an animator on films like 'Tarzan', 'Kuzco' and 'Jungle Book 2'. He additionally made his comics debut in 1993, contributing the story 'L'Ami de la Poésie' to the series 'Récits Grain de Sable' of the publishing house Vents d'Ouest. He cooperated with Didier Crisse on 'Griffin Dark, l'Alliance', using the pseudonym Stanley in 1997.

In 2001, he created the series 'Les Échaudeurs des Ténèbres' for Soleil Productions. He wrote the first book together with Bertarnd Mandico and a second and final installment was written by Rodolphe in 2003. For the same publisher, he began the series 'Belladone' with scripts by Ange between 2004 and 2007. This was followed by the fantasy series 'SinBad', that he made with Audrey Alwett and Scotch Arleston for Soleil from 2008 until 2010. He has additionally contributed to several collective projects, such as 'Sur les traces de Luuna' (Soleil, 2008), a book of illustrated Michel Polnareff chansons (Soleil, 2007) and Mauricet's 'Une bien belle nuance de rouge' (Bamboo, 2012). He teamed up with Fabien Nury to create the historical espionnage diptych 'Silas Corey' for Glénat Caractère in 2013.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
