Colin Allen was a commercial artist and cartoonist during the 1940s and 1950s. He made gag panels for Colliers and the Saturday Evening Post, and illustrated columns and articles for King Features Syndicate. He was the author of the Sunday panel 'The Looneys... What A Family!', that ran through King Features Syndicate from September 1946 to October 1954. Although many a cartoon panel, the feature also appeared in strip format during the end of its run. Allen was also an artist for cartoon advertisements for Wheaties cereal between 1944 and 1946.

For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
