Álvaro Santos studied Architecture. He began his career drawing cartoons for DN Jovem, a supplement of the Diário de Notícias, in 1990. He also took on comics in BDN, another supplement of this newspaper. He then did some work for Se7e with writer José Fialho, and poster and book illustration. From 1994, he was present in the magazine Antitox. In the following years, his work appeared in several fanzines, the magazines Ego, 365, as well as some cartoon albums. In 2001, he drew for Bronkit, the humorous supplement of Trevim.
