Pat Andrea is the pseudonym of Gustaaf Hein Andrea, an artist and painter originally from The Hague. He is the son of painter Kees Andrea and artist Metty Naezer. He attended the Royal Academy in The Hague and founded the ABN group with fellow artists Walter Nobbe and Peter Blokhuis. The group became known as The New Hague School.

He is the author of the book 'Tussen Deeg en Degel, een strip en nog wat, of de Woelige Dordtse Dagen van het Voorjaar 1572', a comic in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the First Free State Election in Dordrecht in 1972. The text was written by Ruud Ringers. He works as a painter, sculptor, graphic designer and print artist. He has lived in Buenos Aires and Paris since 1980. He is a teacher in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
