Avni, by Oguz Aral

Oğuz Aral was born in Silivri, Turkey in 1936. He started his comics career in 1950. After studying at the Art Academy for three years, he devoted himself to his comics. Aral went on to become one of the grand masters of Turkish comics, influencing a whole new generation of comic artists.

Utanmaz Adam, by Oguz Aral

Oğuz Aral was the founder of the weekly humor magazine, Gırgır (Fun), in 1972, and helped many young artists to publish their comics. Under the management of Oğuz Aral, young cartoonists developed, with contributions by Tekin Aral, a popular humor ridiculing persons and events caused by distorted urbanization. Some of Aral's own creations are 'Hayk Hammer', 'Kostebek Husnu', 'Utanmaz Adam', 'Vites Mahmut' and 'Avni'. He also made animated cartoons, and has been a comic artist for Turkish newspaper Hurriyet. Oğuz Aral died in July, 2004.
