Santiago Arcas is a Spanish cartoonist and illustrator, born in Caragena in 1974. A graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, he began his career as a team with Daniel Acuña. Arcas and Acuña published their early work in the fanzine El Tío Saín, before gaining European fame with their series 'Claus y Simón' for the Comix Brut collection of publisher La Cupula between 1998 and 2001. The comic has also appeared in L'Écho des Savanes in France and Heavy Metal in the USA.
Arcas moved on to create the comic series 'Lorena Jones' in the children's magazine Mister K with art by Víctor Ibáñez. In 2006 he was hired by DC Comics in the US to do the coloring of the 'Checkmate' series by Jesus Saiz. As an allround artist, he created 'Islas Pato' for L'Écho des Savanes, a comic about zombies on imaginary islands in the Caribbean Sea. The series was finally published in book format under the title 'Sandra' by Glénat in 2008 (France) and 2009 (Spain).
