Jeque Blanco

Armando Sánchez Hernández was an comic artist from Madrid, best known for his work for action comics. He began his career working for Trampolín and Flechas y Palayos ('Fantasma Negro', 1950). In 1951, he took over the series 'Jeque Blanco' from José Laffond. He drew issues 14 to 137. The series, which was published by M. Rollán, dealt with the adventures of a white detective in exotic North African settings. Armando additionally worked for Rollán's other serials, including 'Mendoza Colt'.

He was also present at the publishing houses Toray ('Arizona', 'Brigada Secreta', 'Espionaje', 'Novelas Gráficas Clásicas', 'Hombres Famosos') and Maga ('Hacha y Espada', 'El Californiano'). He did agency work for Bardon Art, drawing for the British market and the French publishing house Aredit. In the late 1970s he focused on erotic comics and work for the daily press.
