comic art by Redouane Assari

Redouane Assari began his career in 1970 with the magazine M'Quidech, for which he created seven episodes of the series 'Plein Gaz'. He then made his first realistic comic for Tarik in 1974, using the pseudonym Malek Benines. In 1984, he contributed a science-fiction comic to the magazine Album. Also in the 1980s, he published the album 'La Rencontre', and contributed to comic magazines like Fantasia and Tim.
In 1993, he began drawing for the cultural magazine Le Jeudi d'Algérie, critisizing the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS). When several artists were killed by Muslim activists, Assari settled in Paris, France, the following year. There, he focused on advertising art, and illustrated the 'Tilou' children's books, created by Fabien and Christine Theillier.

Series and books by Redouane Assari in stock in the Lambiek Webshop:

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
