Jean-Bernard Auboin is a French illustrator and comic artist. He has been mainly active as a commercial artist, and has provided illustrations for advertisements, magazines and newspapers. He is also known for his drawings of nudes and jazz scenes. Auboin has illustrated game and puzzle pages for magazines like France-Soir, Le Parisien, Ouest-France, Paris-Normandie, Le Pélerin, Télé 7 Jours, Télé Magazine and VSD.

In the 1960s and 1970s he was present in pop magazines like Age Tendre and Marius with illustrations and comics based on popular singers, such as Elvis Presley, Adamo and Françoise Hardy. For the magazine Cinémonde, he made covers and posters. In 1984 he made a comic album called 'Kouassi et Ouattara' for Les Nouvelles Éditions Africaines in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
