El Señor Pestaña (El Universal, 1-5-1938)

Andres C. Audiffred is one the classical Mexican comic artists. To make more money, Audiffred moved to the USA, where he became an artist for The San Antonio Express in 1911. After his return to Mexico, Audiffred became a caricaturist for such magazines as El Universal and El Universal Gráfico.

He created the comic 'Lipa el Chino' for El Heraldo Ilustrado. He used the pseudonym Pipin to create 'Aventuras de Pipiri' in the juvenile pages of Zig-Zag. For El Universal he created his best known comics series: 'El Señor Pestaña' and 'Chom Prieto'. He also created 'Don Lupito' for Argos magazine.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service.
