Adrian Barbu was born in Sibiu. He is a teacher in French language with the University of Cluj, but works as a comic artist and illustrator on the side. Between 1986 and 1989 he made his science-fiction saga 'Artele Marţiale Moderne'. He has contributed to several magazines since the fall of communism in 1989, such as Orion and Jurnalul SF. He made a comic about Jules Verne in 2005, that was published in Carusel.

He won the Achievement Award during an Illustration contest in Los Angeles in 2003. It was there that he met (script)writer Dara Naraghi, with whom he has made comics for several American magazines and anthologies since. Barbu has also made illustrations for children's books and school manuals for Romanian publishers.

Series and books by Adrian Barbu in stock in the Lambiek Webshop:

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
