Emanuele Barison was born in Pordenone, Italy in 1963. He studied at the Art Institute of Udine, section Publicity. He made his comics debut in the magazines Fantasy in 1982. He then began a longtime collaboration with the magazine Topolino and the publishing house Mondadori, doing stories for the Italian Disney productions. He founded the Scuola di Fumetto il Gorilla Bianco in Pordenone, together with Davide Toffolo and Romeo Toffanetti. Also with Toffanetti, he created the series 'Alex il Britanno', which appeared in Il Messaggero dei Ragazzi from 1988 to 1994. Barison also illustrated 'Lazarus Ledd' comic books for Star Comics publisher.

In addition, Barison began working for the French market in cooperation with the French scenarist François Corteggiani. They created the series 'Yakuza' at Soleil Productions in 1996. Barison took over the artwork of the series 'De Silence et de Sang' from Jean-Yves Mitton in 1998 (Glénat) and 'Tatiana K.' from Félix Meynet at Dargaud in 2004 (Dargaud). He also continued his activities for the Italian market. He began doing 'Diabolik' stories at Astorina in 1999, and issued two educational comic books for Videa Edizioni ('L'Editto di Rotari' and 'Quasar a Pratobello').
