After completing his studies in Fine Arts and Advertisement, Jean-Loïc Belhomme became artistic director of an advertising agency in Rennes. He enjoyed all forms of graphic expression, like illustration, animation and comics. He eventually chose for the comics profession. From 1975, he is active as a comics artist under the name Belom. His work has appeared in magazines like Djin, Formule 1, Circus, À Suivre, Spirou, etc. At the same time, he made numerous illustrations for several newspapers and magazines, as well as advertising work (calendars, card games). He is a writer for the French Disney production since the mid-1980s. He writes his stories in cooperation with Gégé, with whom he also launched series like 'Les Ripoupons' (art by Gégé) and 'Robert le Robot' (art by Tony Fernandez).
