Luca Bertelé is a graduate of the Scuola del Fumetto in Milan. He did his first work through small publishers in the 1980s, such as Fenix ('Demon Story'), Tesauro Editore ('Side One'), Five Starr Press ('Love Death Cube') and Liska Prod ('Il Massacratore'). Since then, he has worked for most of the big Italian publishers, such as Comic Art ('Pugno'), Rizzoli ('Maz'), Touring Club ('Lele Sabry e Tobia'), Mondadori ('Le Avventure di James Tont'), Hobby & Work, Magic Press ('X-Files', 'Tank Magazine', 'Cine Attack', 'Space Monkeys'), Play Press, Eura Editoriale (stories in Skorpio and John Doe with Marco Farinelli). Between 1996 and 1998 he was responsible for the publishing house EssEffEdizioni. He is co-founder of the publishing houses Factory and Terra Bruciata. He has worked on 'Alta Fedeltà' and 'I Vizi di Pinketts' for Disney Italia.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
