Line by Françoise Bertier
Line - Le Secret des Soleils (Line 106, 1957)

Françoise Bertier was a French illustrator of mainly children's books, that appeared in collections like Nouvelle Bibliothèque De Suzette and the Série Dauphine. She was also the first to illustrate the title comic of the Lombard girls' magazine Line in 1956 and 1957. The version she made with writer Nicolas Goujon had a more childlike tone than that of her successors, and proved to be not successful among the readers. Therefore, the following art teams André Gaudelette/Charles Nugue, Rol and Paul Cuvelier/Greg all had their own interpretations of the character. By 1966, Bertier drew another comic strip called 'Coco, le perroquet perdu' for Le Journal de Nounours.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
