Nicolas Binsfeld is a painter originally from Wiltz, Luxembourg, who lives and works in Belgium. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Charleroi and has been painting since the 1970s. His styles vary from impressionism to German Expressionism, and from abstraction to figuration and hyperrealism. After numerous trips to Italy, his work became more poetic and realistic. Between 1990 and 1993, he was the illustrator of the Revue Universitaire de Genève. In 1992, he painted the comic story 'Jimena' in the Aire Libre collection of the publishing house Dupuis from a script by retired manager François Planque. It was one of the first comic stories produced entirely from paintings.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
