Edwin "Eddy" Buikovic was born in Zagreb in 1969. He made his debut in 1987 with the strip 'Dokaz'. He worked on several comic projects in his homeland, until he began to work for the American market together with Darko Macan in 1993. Buikovic and Macan cooperated on 'Grendel Tales: Devils and Deaths' and 'Grendel Tales: Devil's Choices'. He is the artist of the graphic novels 'X-Wing Rogue Squadron: The Phantom Affair' (script by Darko Macan) and 'Star Wars: The Last Command' (script by Mike Baron). He was the author of the 'Human Target' miniseries at DC's Vertigo imprint. He died of a tumor in Croatia in 1999, at the age of 30.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop.
However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
