Willem Egbert (Bill) Bodéwes studied at the Art Academy in Enschede. He published comics in several magazines and was especially renowned for his taboo-breaking cartoons, which displayed a keen sense of social and political criticism. His first cartoons appeared in the magazine Hitweek in 1968. Since then, he has published in other Dutch magazines, including Candy, Chick, Tante Leny Presenteert and Modern Papier. A few of his titles are 'Pietje Piel Draagt de Oranjekiel' and 'De Moeilijkheden van Kommissaris Kut'.
