Danish-Icelandic artist Jakob S. Boeskov is actve in various forms of art, having exhibitions throughout Europe and the US with his own artistic concept Ficionism. Coming from a background in architecture and comics, Boeskov published his satirical autobiographic comic 'Flax Letter' through Galleri Nicolai Wallner, Denmark's premiere avant-garde institution in the mid 1990s. He furthermore made comics specially for exhibitions, and for small comic magazines. Lars von Trier's production company assigned Boeskov to deconstruct the complete works of Lars Von Trier, which was collected in the book 'Lars von Trier in the Egghead Trap' by Zentropa Edutainment/Gyldendal in 1999.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
