Radivoj Bogičević was born in the Serbian village Sremske Laze, and went to school in Vinkovci. He chronicled his childhood in his autobiographical novel 'U trku za jelenom'. Bogičević studied at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade where he graduated at the Department of Graphic Art.
He began his collaboration with the publishing house Dečje novine and its magazine Nikad Robom in the early 1960s. He is best known for his comic series 'Akant', that appeared between 1963 and 1971. He was an animator with Zastava film for four years and was subsequently employed by TV Beograd as an advertisement animator. He returned to comics in 2004 with the book 'Džon Piplfoks'.
