Dave Boyer was born and raised in the Bronx. He studied electical engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology, and wrote technical service manuals for Eastman Kodak until 1989. He then took on professional cartooning. He drew the strip 'Bippies', which ran in Rochester New York.
