Duncan, by Chris Browne

Chris Browne was born in South Orange, New Jersey as the son of the famous comic artist Dik Browne. Chris followed in his father's footsteps and became a comic artist himself. He started out assisting his father on 'Hi and Lois' and 'Hagar the Horrible'. He helped his father with the writing of 'Hagar' gags from the series' launch in 1972. When Dik Browne retired in 1988, Chris continued the 'Hagar' comic, which is syndicated by King Features to 45 countries. His brother Chance Browne continued 'Hi and Lois'. In addition to Hagar, Chris Browne has contributed cartoons to National Lampoon, Playboy, Esquire, Heavy Metal and The New Yorker. He also created the newspaper strip 'Duncan'.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
