Lidia, by J. A. Calvo

José Antonio Calvo was born in the spring of 1963 in Madrid. He was an amateur artist in the 1980s. He collaborated with Santiago Segura on such an early project as the creation of fanzine Dogdai. Segura would become a very popular actor and film director in later years. In 1985 José Antonio Calvo won first prize in a contest for amateur artists held by the magazine Creepy. He also managed to publish some of his works in magazines like Madriz and Makoki. At any rate, the most successful stage of his career took place in the 1990s, while he and Santiago Segura were using the joint pseudonym Mónica & Bea to produce a series of highly sexed comics for Ediciones la Cúpula.

Series and books by J. A. Calvo in stock in the Lambiek Webshop:

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
