Paolo Campinoti was born in Livorno, and studied at the Liceo Artistico and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Firenze. During his civil service, he illustrated promotional material. He began to work as a professional comics artist in 1993. He cooperated with a Rome located advertising agency and cooperated on Battista il Collezionista with Moreno Burattini. He moved to Milan in 1996, and joined the Disney Academy. He cooperates on the Italian Disney production since 1997, drawing stories and illustrating merchandise. He has done stories for Topolino, as well as Minni Mag, where he did 'Mai Dire Quack' and 'Il Diario di Paperina'. He also cooperated on such series as 'W.I.T.C.H.' and 'Monster Allergy'. In 2002, he became the illustrator of 'Geronimo Stilton' at Edizioni Piemme.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
