Sergi Cardó is a Spanish visual development artist, character designer and concept artist for video games and animation. As a comic artist, he has worked through Studio Comicup on Disney stories for European publishers.
Early life and career
Sergi Cardó Siscart was born in 1979 in Calella, a Catalan coastal town in the province of Barcelona. Between 1997 and 2001, he studied Art History at the University of Barcelona. After that, he pursued a career in animation and comic art. After an apprenticeship in 2D animation at the ACCIÓStudio in Barcelona, he spent two years (2001-2003) working as concept artist for Emotion Studio, S.L. Over the next couple of years, he participated in several masterclasses, including in Disney art (Egmont, 2006), marketing art for Nickelodeon (2007) and character design and animation (Spa Studios, 2012).

Comics
Before turning to animation full time, Cardó first had a stint as a comic artist. Between 2005 and 2010, he was affiliated with Studio Comicup in Barcelona, drawing comic stories with Disney characters. For the Dutch Disney licensee Sanoma, he drew stories for both the Donald Duck weekly and the girls' magazine Katrien. Besides adventures and gags of Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Gyro Gearloose, he also drew stories with Chip 'n' Dale, the Big Bad Wolf and movie characters such as Aladdin and Pinocchio. From 2007 on, he also drew a couple of Duck stories for the Danish publisher Egmont.
Through the communication agency Kidekom, Sergi Cardó provided the artwork for the children's healthcare comic books 'La Muestra del Valor' (Menudos Corazones Foundation, 2008), supporting children and young people with congenital heart disease, and 'Marcos en Apuros' (2008) and 'Un Gigante en la Pandilla' (2012), both for the "Vivir en Salud" program of the Mapfre Foundation, aimed at emotional well-being, healthy and sustainable eating and physical activity for children. Cardó's other print media artwork has included school book illustration for ProcessElt, wear design for Promise and advertising art for Aquahotels. For the production company El Viaje Imposible, Cardó did character design and concept art for the awarded 2013 short 'Blue & Malone, Detectives Imaginarios'. From scripts by the film's director Abraham López Guerrero, he also made some advertising comic strips with these characters.

Animation
Since 2009, Sergi Cardó's focus has been on doing concept art and character design for the video games industry. Over the years, he has worked for such mobile game studios as Virtual Toys, Beesquare Games, 2Awesome, Socialpoint, UnusuALL, Hero Forge and Tiny Wizard Games. Between 2017 and 2020, he also worked at Snap Inc, doing visual development for Bitmoji animation projects. Since 2016, Sergi Cardó lives and works in Toronto, Canada.
