Chad Carpenter learned cartooning profession from artists like Dik Browne and Mike Peters in Sarasota, Florida. He returned to his home state Alaska and created the animal comic strip 'Tundra'. Carpenter's strip began publication in the Anchorage Daily News in 1991 and is now published in almost 500 newspapers throughout the USA, Canada, Europe and even Jamaica and Trinidad.
In addition, the strip has been collected in over 20 books and used on calendars, T-shirts, mouse pads, bumper stickers, etc. 'Tundra' is self-syndicated by Carpenter in the USA, and by King Features to international publications.
