Vic Carrabotta

Vic Carrabotta was born in The Bronx, New York City, and attended the High School of Music and Art in Brooklyn, as well as the School of Visual Arts. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1948 to 1951, and then worked in construction for a while, before he got his first art jobs through Famous Studios and Will Eisner. He was active as a comic book artist for Stan Lee's Atlas line during the 1950s.

He contributed to many of the Atlas war, mystery, horror and western titles, such as Journey into Unknown Worlds, Strange Tales, War Comics, Astonishing Comics and Western Gunfighters. He additionally illustrated crime stories for Fiction House and Story Comics, and 'Red Fire' and crime stories for Lev Gleason. Carrabotta was furthermore present in Atomic Attack and Chilling Tales, published by Youthful Magazines. He was also a storyboarder and designer for commercials. He eventually went into the printing business and became art director in the Atlanta office of the advertising agency BBDO. After winning an award for a Delta Air Lines project, he began freelancing as a storyboard and conceptual artist for several agencies, including Grey Advertising, McCann-Erickson, and Young & Rubicam.
