Jean-Claude Cassini began his career as a graphic artist in a press office. In his spare time, he started painting. He began the series 'Bouffe-Doublon' (1999) and 'Séminole' (2001) together with writer Simon Rocca at Soleil Productions. The series 'La Dernière Chevauchée' with scripts by Philippe Chanoinat and Hubert Chardot followed in 2003.
