Gian Maria Volonté by Paolo Castaldi

Paolo Castaldi is a comic book artist, storyboarder and illustrator from Milan. He attended the Milanese Umberto Boccioni Art School from 1996 to 2000, and then enrolled at the Comic Art School, where he specialized in realistic drawing. He made his comics debut in 2005 with the stories 'I will never be clean again' and 'The Anomaly', that he made in cooperation with writer Adriano Barone for the Star Comics magazine Strike!. As an allround author, he published a story in Scuola di Fumetto before beginning an association with Edizioni Voilier in 2008.

Voilier published his graphic novel 'Nuvole Rapide' in two books in 2009 and 2010. Next came 'Etenesh, l'odissea di una migrante' (2011) and 'Diego Armando Maradona' (2013), two graphic novels published by BeccoGiallo. The author returned to short stories with 'San Vittore' for E, the publication of the humanitarian organization Emergency, and 'Sui Generis' for the art magazine InPensiero. His work was translated into English for the magazine Words Without Borders and in French and Spanish by Diábolo Ediciones.

Castaldi has additionally worked as a storyboard artist for TV in commission of Sky, Canal, Jimmy, MTV and Barilla, and through studios like Real Life Television and Studio Bozzeto. He has also produced art for CD's, and posters, and performs as a live painter.
