Oleg Marsfield

Viorel Chirea is a Romanian comic artist, painter of churches, photographer and a fan of archeology. He was born in Caracal and is a graduate of the Faculty of History of the University of Craiova. He published his first drawing in the local press in 1995. He has drawn comics since 1998, and has contributed to magazines like Mini Azi, Curierul Armatei, "Ah,BD" and Arborama.

He has published three comic books with the financial aid of the municipality of Caracal, 'Desenatorul de Serviciu' (2000), 'Oleg Marsfield' (2002) and 'Arcasii începutului de lume' (2003). The latter won the Sandu Florea Trophey for Best Romanian Album in 2004. He is an artistic clerk with the Department of Fine Arts in the Radu Serban Cultural Centre in Caracal.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
