Ponchito by Jose Clemen

José Clemen was an Argentine comic artist and illustrator, and the brother of artists Juan Clemen and Carlos Clemen. Clemen was a contributor of both covers and interior art to the weekly western series 'Poncho Negro' (including the 'Ponchito' feature), and to the war comic book Fuego! in the 1950s.

He was also present in Paturozito with the comic 'Mitzy y Volatín'. Clemen was one of the artists for 'El Hombre Nuclear' and drew the comic series 'Russ Congó' from scripts by Hector German Oesterheld for Top in 1970. He was a cover artist for the Colección Robin Hood in the late 1940s and early 1950s. He also illustrated 'Phantom' ('El Fantasma') covers for Editorial Edmal.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
