Gaietà Cornet i Palau is a Catalan artist and caricaturist, active in the first part of the 20th century. He was educated in industrial engineering at the Borrell Academy and began his career working in his father's company, La Maquinista Terrestre y Marítima. He started out as a painter, being part of the group El Rovell de l'Ou. By 1898 he began publishing in satirical magazines like l'Esquella de la Torratxa, La Campana de Gràcia and La Veu de Catalunya. He was co-founder of the satirical magazine ¡Cu-Cut! (1902-1912) and formed the magazine's editorial team with Feliu Elias-Apa, Junceda, Joan Llaverias and Opisso.

In 1904 he also began working for En Patufet. After the cancellation of ¡Cu-Cut!, Cornet cooperated with El Correo Catalàn as artistic director, as well as with humorous publications like L'Estevet, El Senyor Canons, El Lliri blanc, D.I.C., El Senyor Daixonses and El Considerat, and children's publications like Chiquitín, ¡JaJa!, Kikiriki, Pelele and Niños.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
