Giovanni Crivello got his degree in advertising in 1969. While fulfilling his military service, he did some illustration work for the National Museum of the Cavalry. He joined the Staff di IF in 1976. He did the 'La Furia del West' series and for Universo he produced several one-shot comics and the 'Commissario Norton' series. At the same time he was a merchandise illustrator for among others Nestlé and Grinta and he collaborated on the Ill Laroro di Genova daily. He then joined Bonelli publishers, for which he illustrated episodes of 'Mister No', 'Zona X' and 'Martin Mystère'.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop.
However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
