Stephen DeStefano began his career in the mid-1980's working for DC. He contributed to 'Blackhawk' and 'House of Mystery' and co-created titles like 'Hero Hotline' and 'Mazing Man'. His work was featured in Fantagraphics' 'Critters' and 'Itchy Planet' between 1988 and 1990. In the early 1990's, he worked on Disney Comics. He did artwork for Mickey Mouse Adventures and inks on 'Bonkers' and 'Goof Troop' stories. In addition, he worked on Marvel's 'Bill & Ted' and did inks on Palliard Press' 'XXXenophile' and on Dark Horse's 'Screwball Squirrel'. He eventually returned to DC to do artwork for their licensed Cartoon Network titles. Stephen DeStefano is also active in animation.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
