Spekkie en Blekkie en de Blauwe Poema (De Rotterdammer, 25-11-1963)

Otto Dicke was a Dutch illustrator, children's book illustrator, fine artist and cartoonist, who was also known for his wall paintings and mosaics. He lived in Dordrecht his entire life, and had an atelier at the building of the Teekengenootschap Pictura for 50 years. He was a teacher at the ABK in Rotterdam, and occasionally active in the cartoon and comics field. With Cees Buddingh, he made the strip 'Spekkie en Blekkie' and 'Jesje en Josje' for "Het Kwartet", a publishing group of local newspapers. For the Verenigde Ned. Chr. Dagbladpers, he made 'Hoe Jan en Piet in de Krant Kwamen', in 1957. Dicke has illustrated books by Jaap Fischer and Simon Carmiggelt. A documentary about Dicke's life was made by Wendeline Wilmink in 1983.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
