Donio Donev was born in Berkovica. He worked as an engraver and then specialized in animation in Moscow. He has worked as a director of a cartoon studio, a professor in animation and as an editor of papers and magazines like Trimata Glupaci, Chetirimata Glupaci, Fras and Duga.

He was a scriptwriter and producer of over 100 movies. Episodes of his animation projects 'Trimata Glupaci', 'Chetirimata Glupaci' and 'Umno selo' were also published as comics, among others in Duga.
