Karl Gardosh was an Israeli caricaturist, illustrator and comic artist, known under the pen name Dosh. Born Gárdos Károly in Hungary in 1921, he emigrated to France in 1946, where he studied comparative literature at the Sorbonne University. Gardosh eventually moved to Israel in 1948 and assumed the first name Kariel. He was one of Israel's best political caricaturists, who worked as a political cartoonist for the Maariv newspaper since 1953. He was also making cartoons and comics for the Jerusalem Post.

Dosh was the creator of 'Srulik', the symbolic cartoon mascot of Israel, that also appeared in comic strips. Dosh also created comics like 'Ruti' (1950-1952), an adult series published in Haolam Haze about a strong girl in the world of men. Another creation was his 1954 Bible era adventure series 'Gam Amnon bamitnadvim' ('Amnon is also among the volunteers'), that was published in Haaretz Shelanu. Between 1981 and 1983 Gardos worked at the Israeli embassy in London as a Cultural attaché. He died from heart failure in February 2000.
