Topolino, by Sandro Dossi

After having worked in the advertising field, Sandro Dossi began his comics career at the publishing house Bianconi. He started out illustrating 'Felix the Cat' in the 1960s, followed by 'Braccio di Ferro' ('Popeye') from 1966 to 1980 and 'Tom & Jerry' from 1976 to 1981. He also took on 'Geppo' for the publishing house Metro.  He cooperated on the magazine Chico from 1970, where he drew 'Pinocchio' in cooperation with fellow artists Pierluigi Sangalli and Tiberio Colantuoni and writer Alberico Motta.

Dossi began a collaboration with the Italian Disney productions in 1980. In addition, he illustrated 'Orsetten', featuring characters created by André Roche for Kinder Surprise in Germany, for La Ferrero and 'Los Pappagallos' for De Agostini. From 1991 to 1993, he collaborated with Il Corriere dei Piccoli and Rizzoli, drawing comics with Warner Bros characters, as well as 'Pink Panther' and 'The Flintstones'.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
