Robbe en Bas, by David Evrard
Robbe en Bas (Zonnekind, 1991)

E411, whose real name is David Evrard, was born in Cologne, Germany, in 1971. He made his first professional drawings for the Belgian Office de la Naissance et de l'Enfance, before creating the comic strip 'Robbe en Bas' ('Max et Bouzouki') in the Averbode magazine Zonnekind with scriptwriter Falzar. The characters got their own magazine in 2004. Since 1995, E411 has made several comics for communication purposes with scriptwriters Fauche and Adam. Among their customers were Accor, Hewlett Packard and Laroche-Posay.

He was part of the 1990s generation of Spirou magazine, together with contributors like Olis, Clarke and Deth. Since 1994, E411 was one of the main illustrators of editorial pages, like the hilarious 'Couvertures que vous ne deviez pas voir', a section with covers of famous Spirou characters that "you weren't allowed to see". His 'Porc Épique' appeared in the section La Balise à Cartoons and he also delivered various short stories during the nineties, starring characters like 'Maître Corbaque', 'Hervé TT' and 'Jérôme et les Gnomes'.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
