Spatz Alexander (FF Dabei, 1973)

Ladislaus Elischer was an East-German painter, illustrator and graphic artist. Between 1957 and 1959 he worked on the Mosaik studios of Hannes Hegen. Subsequently, he illustrated utopian stories in Der Trommel, and created characters like 'Bummel' for Atze and 'MexyCano' for Frösi. In the late 1960s he developed 'Die Spreenixen' for advertisements on DDR television. In later years, he worked for magazines like Freie Welt, NBI, FF Dabei and Armeerundschau. He was present in Der Trommel with stories like 'Thorianit' and 'Der Tolle Rit' from 1959 to 1976, and in Frösi from 1967 to 1977.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
