Sonic the Comic

Richard Elson is a British comic book artist, who began his career in the late 1980s. Since 1988 he has illustrated a great many 2000 AD serials, including 'Tharg's Future Shocks', 'Shadows', 'Judge Dredd', 'Kingdom' and, most notably, 'Atavar' with Dan Abnett. He is one of the main contributors to Fleetway's 'Sonic the Comic' title, and he has furthermore worked on UK titles like The Beano, 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', 'Toxic Crusaders' and 'Spider-Man'. For Marvel US he has worked with Seth Grahame-Smith on 'Marvel Zombies Return: Hulk'. Elson has additionally drawn for World War II books published by Osprey Graphic History.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
