Having been interested in drawing since childhood, Kaj Engholm started drawing in the advertising business. In 1942, Engholm's wife mailed some of his drawings to a contest in a Copenhagen newspaper. This led to the start of Engholm's comic strip 'Gnidén'. Engholm started a second daily strip in 1947, called 'Far Til Fire'. Nine movies were based on this comic strip. After this, Engholm added the weekly comic strip 'Kon Rosa' to his work.
