Born in Barcelona, Ignasi Calvet Esteban started out working at the international marketing department of the publishing house Bruguera. He took lessons in drawing in his spare time. He eventually joined the art department of Bruguera, where he began his artistic career. Esteban worked at a bank from 1973, and in his spare time, he took on art assignments. He drew 'Kater Felix' for the German publisher Bastei, as well as war stories for the British Fleetway agency. He also cooperated on Rolf Kauka's 'Fix und Foxi' as a member of the Comicup Studios. He got his first assignment from the Danish Disney publisher Egmont in 1980. He eventually joined the Tello studios and he has drawn Disney comics since. He has done numerous comics with 'The Beagle Boys', 'Young Donald' and 'Mickey Mouse', among others.
