Basketball (Treasure Chest, 1947)

Harry Fusk studied at the Art Student League. He did advertising art in the 1920s, illustrated magazines in the 1930s (Liberty, Boy's Life), worked as a lithographer, and has illustrated books for over 40 years. He was active in the comic book field through the Funnies Inc shop in the 1940s, contributing to titles like Real Life Comics (Better Publications), Catholic Comics (Catholic Comics), Treasure Chest (George A. Pflaum) and True Comics (Parents' Magazine Press). Fisk illustrated characters and features like 'The Conquerors' for Albrecht, 'Captain Marvel Jr.' and 'Commando Yank' for Fawcett, and 'Human Torch' and 'Sergeant Dix' for Timely. He was a teacher at the School of Visual Arts in 1955-56.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
