Ramona Fradon started her comics career in 1950. Just graduated from art school, she got a job at DC Comics, drawing 'Aquaman', for which she co-created the character Metamorpho. In 1965 she took a 7-year break to raise her daughter. When Ramona Fradon returned to comics, she worked on DC titles such as 'Superman', 'Batman' and 'Plastic Man'. She left DC in 1980 to take over Dale Messick's 'Brenda Starr'. This popular strip still runs today. After Ramona Fradon retired in 1995, it was taken over by June Brigman.
In 2004, Ramona Fradon came temporarily out of retirement to draw the comic 'Mermaidman and Barnacleboy', a spin-off of the popular cartoon series 'Spongebob Squarepants' and a parody on 'Aquaman'.
