Shiki by Ryu Fujisaki

Ryu Fujisaki is a manga artist from Matsu, Aomori Prefecture. He has published all his work under the Shônen Jump label of the publishing house Shueisha since 1990, starting with the short story collections 'Worlds' and 'Dramatic Irony'.

He is best known for the series 'Hôshin Engi' ('Soul Hunter'), a manga series about Chinese mythology and history of China, inspired by the ancient Chinese novel 'Fengshen Yanyi'. It was serialized in Weekly Shônen Jump between 1996 and 2000 and collected in 23 books. The series has been adapted into anime and a number of radio dramas and video games, while Viz Media has released an English translation.

He then made an adaptation of Fuyumi Ono's novel 'Shiki' in 1998. Fujisaki's serial 'Wâqwâq' was first published in 2004 and 2005, and has later also appeared in the English language.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
