Oh My Goddess!

After graduating from high school, Kosuke Fujishima landed a job as an editor for Puff, a comic news magazine. One of his jobs was to interview comic artist Tatsuya Egawa. After the interview, he asked Egawa if he could use an assistant. Egawa looked at his work and then gave Fujishima the job. Fujishima's first professional publication was a comic-style report on the making of the film 'Be Free' in 1986. His fans liked his work, and Fujishima created his first series, 'You're Under Arrest!' In 1988, he drew a four-panel gag cartoon which featured the characters from 'You're Under Arrest!' praying to a goddess. The goddess became the basis for 'Belldandy', and inspired him to create the 'Oh My Goddess!' series for Afternoon magazine. Today, Kosuke Fujishima still produces this series, as well as numerous illustrations for other magazines, and character designs for video games.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
