Look to the Mountain by John Russell Fulton

John Fulton was an American magazine illustrator. He was born John Russell Fulton in Valley Center, Kansas, and grew up in the Oklahoma Indian Territory. He was an illustrator for various Mid-West newspapers before turning to advertising illustration in Chicago. He was a magazine illustrator in New York from the 19020s through the 1950s and among his clients were Redbook, Blue Book, Collier's Weekly, Liberty Magazine, Argosy, Harper's Bazaar, Saturday Evening Post, Pictorial Review, Good Housekeeping, and American Legion.

In 1942 he illustrated the newspaper comic strip 'Look to the Mountain', that was part of King Features Syndicate's series of comic strips in cooperation with the Book-of-the-Month Club in the 1940s. He spent his final years making oil paintings of western and desert scenes in California.
